2 Euro Commemorative Coins

2 Euro Commemorative Coins are special coins minted and put into circulation since 2004 by the euro area member states and the mini-states that have signed the monetary agreements with the countries of the Euro Zone; it is legal tender. These coins are usually issued to commemorate anniversaries of historical events or to emphasize particularly important current events.
Until 2015, were minted 228 variants of 2 Euro commemorative coins: 6 in 2004, 8 in 2005, 7 in 2006, 20 in 2007 (including 13 common emission versions to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome) , 10 in 2008, 25 in 2009 (including 16 common emission versions to celebrate the 10th anniversary of economic and monetary Union), 12 in 2010, 16 in 2011, 30 in 2012 (including 17 common emission versions to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the introduction of euro banknotes and coins in euro), 23 in 2013, 27 in 2014 and 45 in 2015 (including 19 common emission versions to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the European flag). Finland, Italy, Luxembourg, San Marino and Vatican City are the only countries to have issued at least one commemorative coin every year. By contrast Cyprus has not yet issued any matter commemorative coin.
2 euro commemorative coins have become a collector's item: these coins, however, not to be confused with commemorative coins (with a higher face value than 2 euro), that are officially proposed as coin collectors and are usually struck with a metal precious (gold and / or silver).
